Manchester United Makes Initial Approach for £50m Transfer to Replace David de Gea

Manchester United has initiated contact with Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana as a means of expressing their interest in securing his services.

De Gea

The departure of David de Gea from Manchester United seems increasingly probable as his contract is set to expire by the end of this month, prompting Erik ten Hag, the team's manager, to actively pursue the signing of a new goalkeeper.

In anticipation of David de Gea's departure, Manchester United is preparing to bid farewell to their current goalkeeper at the end of June, thereby concluding his 12-year tenure due to the failure to reach an agreement on a new contract.

While there remains a possibility that De Gea may still sign a new contract, manager Erik ten Hag is proactively identifying potential candidates to assume the role of the team's primary goalkeeper.

One such candidate is Andre Onana, a 27-year-old goalkeeper who has been shortlisted for consideration due to his previous collaboration with Ten Hag during the latter's four-and-a-half-year tenure at Ajax. With Onana's proficiency in playing with the ball at his feet and his familiarity with Ten Hag's system, Manchester United appears poised to approve a potential transfer.

According to the Mail, key figures at Old Trafford have reached out to the Cameroonian goalkeeper; however, they may encounter difficulties due to Inter's £50 million valuation. Despite Onana's relatively brief spell at Inter, which proved to be a memorable campaign, the prospect of reuniting with Ten Hag could prove enticing enough to lure him away from San Siro.
